Every SA20 Season 5 Auction Buy and Price, Team by Team
All 19 Season 5 auction buys and prices, team by team, from Rowles at R2.9m to Bavuma at base price.

Nineteen players found Season 5 homes at the player auction, spread across the four franchises that still had slots to fill. Durban's Super Giants and Paarl Royals were already complete and did not bid, which left Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape to divide the remaining places. The full list, with prices, shows where the money went and which teams paid for experience and which paid for potential.
Joburg Super Kings spent the most and the loudest. Jason Rowles cost R2.9 million, Faf du Plessis R2.7 million and Kieron Pollard R1.5 million, while Andries Gous joined for R1 million, Blessing Muzarabani for R500,000 and Dayyaan Galiem for R375,000. Six buys, and a squad that now mixes the oldest heads in the league with its youngest star.
MI Cape Town's six buys were led by Wiaan Mulder at R2.6 million, with Shimron Hetmyer and Trent Boult at R1.5 million each. The remaining three slots went to Daniel Smith, Lehan Botha and Oliver Whitehead, all at R200,000. It was a familiar pattern for the 2025 champions: big money on proven match-winners, base price on young players with room to grow.
Pretoria Capitals kept their spending tight. Rassie van der Dussen stayed for R500,000, and Keemo Paul, Ackeem Auguste, Josh Breed and Temba Bavuma each joined at R200,000. Bavuma's fee is the eye-catching one: a Test captain and World Test Championship winner at base price, beginning a third league stint after winning the first two titles with Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape needed only two players and bought exactly two: Nandre Burger for R500,000 and Craig Overton for R1.5 million. Both are fast bowlers, which fits a franchise that has won three titles on bowling, and both arrived at prices that left the champions' structure untouched. With the auction done, all six squads stand at nineteen players: eighteen in the main squad plus one wildcard, who sits outside the salary cap. Added together, the nineteen buys cost R18.475 million, well inside the R35.025 million the four teams had available. The wildcard slots sit outside those numbers: Jamie Overton at Joburg Super Kings, Marco Jansen at Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Kagiso Rabada at MI Cape Town, Andre Russell at Pretoria Capitals and Joe Root at Paarl Royals. Durban's Super Giants and Paarl Royals, already complete before the auction, spent nothing and needed nothing, which is why the nineteen buys belong to only four teams.
